One of the things I love about working in interiors is seeing how ideas slowly evolve over time. Trends tend to move gradually rather than appearing overnight, and recently there are a few shifts I've been noticing more and more in homes, projects and the wider interiors world. Here are a few that I think are particularly interesting.
A Move Towards Warmer Interiors
For quite a while interiors were dominated by cooler greys and very minimal palettes. Recently, there's been a clear shift towards warmer, more inviting colours. I am seeing a lot more earthy tones, deeper greens, rich blues and warmer neutrals. Which I love! These shades tend to create rooms that feel more relaxed and welcoming, which is something I love to introduce into a home.
Perfect Patterns
Wallpaper has been making a comeback for a little while now, but it's been great to see people becoming braver with patterned designs. No longer relegated to a single feature wall, wallpaper is now being used across all four walls and even on ceilings to create a bold and playful look. If you're thinking of trying this in your own home, it's worth paying attention to both scale and colour when choosing your wallpaper. Consider how the pattern will work with the other elements in the room, from furniture to fabrics and lighting. And as always, order plenty of samples and view them in different lighting throughout the day to make sure the design works well within your space.
Mosaic and Small Form Tiles
Mosaic tiles are making a comeback, and I'm still deciding how I feel about it. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a beautiful tile, but I still remember trying to scrub limescale from tiny mosaic tiles in my early 2000s bathroom! That said, they can absolutely create a timeless look. Many Victorian tile designs were heavily mosaic-based and can still look wonderful today. If you're drawn to this trend, it's just worth thinking carefully about where you use it. In areas that need constant cleaning, like showers, lots of small grout lines can make maintenance a bit more challenging especially if you're dealing with hard water.
Perfectly Imperfect Interiors
This is another trend I can wholeheartedly get behind: lived-in interiors are becoming the norm again. Gone are the days of showroom-style homes where everything feels perfectly matched and untouched. Instead, we're seeing spaces full of character, warmth and personality. Introducing warm colours, vintage pieces and layers of beautiful texture. These homes feel nostalgic, charming and genuinely personal — exactly the kind of interiors I love to see!
